![]() Just because the knob controls the line-in signal doesn't mean the signal is going through the mic pre. But ending up compensating the 10dB attenuation with your external preamp might not be good in cases where it makes a big difference in hiss or colouring for that preamp.Yes you can bypass the preamp. ![]() The preamp on the Pro40 cannot be bypassed so basically you have to choose either you attenuate or you find the zero spot. But ending up compensating the 10dB attenuation with your external preamp might not be good in cases where it makes a big difference in hiss or colouring for that preamp. If you keep the gain low you should not find your signal coloured.Īt least for my own purposes I will make a test running parallel a mic pair through the RNP, one mic to another interface with "true" line level input and the other mic to the Pro40 to find the approximate zero gain spot on the Pro40. To find the real 0 gain position you should use a test signal of some kind. The knobs are not linear and the 0 gain will be around 3-4. The line inputs will both attenuate and boost and at 0 knob position they will attenuate 10dB. The answer from their support (from a different guy than in previous post) is shortly this: I specifically asked about the 0 gain position because that's what made me wonder about the line input in the first place as I felt I had to crank up the Pro40 kinda lot before I got the same signal level from my RNP as I got with my other interfaces. which seems to be great by the way (comparing to the others I've dealt with), thumbs up! ![]() I was also wondering about the preamps and last week I sent a question to their Tech Support.
